Supermoon

This Saturday’s full moon on May 5th will be the largest all year. This is because the moon is at it’s perigee meaning it’s closer to the earth than any other time in it’s regular orbit. The moon’s orbit is more of an ellipse so at certain times the Moon is actually closer to the earth than other times. You may see a full moon on Friday, Saturday and Sunday that is 14% larger and as much as 30% brighter than other full moons of the year.

In Astrology the moon represents what we need to feel safe, happy and fulfilled. When those needs aren’t met we can go a little crazy and for that reason the full moon is associated with a time of madness. But rather than getting mad this month, instead look to find new ways to satisfy your needs. If your needs are satisfied often that positive feeling will spread to family and friends. Here’s a quick list and a few ideas.

Are things not happening quick enough? If you’ve been waiting for other people to take an action to get things rolling see if there isn’t some action you can take yourself to move things along.

Are you feeling financially insecure? Do a little inventory of what you have (full pantry, a nice TV, a car that runs) and an inventory of your talents (your accounting degree or your handyman skills, your ability to cook or your rapport with people) and you’ll feel better in no time.

Are you feeling lonely? This is a perfect month to try a new social or business group. Meetup.com lists about 1500 meetings happening in the area each week. Try something you haven’t done in a while like bowling, a photography class, or yoga at the beach.

Finally take a few minutes this weekend and gaze at the moon. It is a marvelous sight. And this month it will be even more spectacular.
